WAD - This file that contains the Virtual Console and WiiWare games/software. DOL/ELF - This file that contains the homebrew applications.
Homebrew - These are applications made by other users to enhance the functionality of the console. Some examples are games, emulators and media players. Modchip - A chip that is installed inside the Wii to allow it to play copied/burned/pirated games. This Wii is then known as a modified/modded Wii. Semi-Bricking - This happens when you install a system update which is meant for another region (e.g. Europe/Japan) To avoid this, avoid playing games from another region and/or use tools such as WiiScrubber or Starfall.
